Mrs. Jewell McPherson Varnadoe, age 83, of Orchard Hill, passed away Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at Brightmoor Nursing Center. Mrs. Varnadoe was born Aug. 19, 1927, in Canton, Ga., to the late Belton McPherson and the late Louise Jurden McPherson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Simmie Varnadoe; and sisters, Ann Maddox, Pearl Lowery, Susie Lifsey and Lois Mullis. Mrs. Varnadoe was a homemaker. She was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church.

Mrs. Varnadoe is survived by her children and their spouses, James and Peggy Varnadoe, Donald and Brenda Varnadoe, all of Griffin, Gary and Tina Varnadoe, of LaGrange, Marty and Lynn Varnadoe, of Juliette, Lisa and Anthony McDaniel, of Williamson, and Milo and Jana Varnadoe, also of Griffin; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Estelle Shirley, of Griffin; brothers, Leroy McPherson, of Brooks, Ga., and Grady McPherson, of Barnesville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jewell Varnadoe will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Cannady will officiate. Interment will follow in the Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may visit the family from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, at the funeral home.
