Mrs. Jett was born in Griffin, Ga., on Feb. 24, 1949, to the late Rev. Hoyt S. McGhee and the late Laura Edwards McGhee. She was preceded in death by infant granddaughter Natalie Renee Wooten and sister Olenia Morris. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she loved God above all. She was a member of West Sunnyside Community Church and sang with her sisters in the Emmanuel Trio.
Mrs. Jett is survived by husband of 41 years, Tommy Jett; daughters and son-in-law, Allison and Craig Deason, Heather Jett; son and daughter-in-law, Bobo and Dana Jett; grandchildren, Robyn and husband David Hightower, Nicole, Holly, and Justyn Weaver, Todd Hammond, Austin Wooten, Taylor, Macey Grace, and Tanner Jett, Kiki Wood, Chris Runyan; great-grandchildren, Chris and Kaylan Hightower; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jeanette and Ben McMichael, Phyliss and Harold Shepherd, Grace and Alton English; brothers and sisters-in-law, Norman and Vivian McGhee, Wynn and Yvonne McGhee, David and Norma McGhee, Hilton and Katrina McGhee; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hilda Marnelle McGhee Jett will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at West Sunnyside Community Church. Pastor Hugh Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in Griffin Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
