Mr. Bethune was born in Thomaston on April 10, 1932, son of the late George Bethune and the late Lillie Odessa Moore Bethune. He was a member of New Beginnings Christian Church. Mr. Bethune was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack Bethune.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Bethune; daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and William Brewer and Pam and Kevin Myers, all of Griffin; son and daughter-in-law, James Dempsey and Tammy Bethune; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Sikes, and Shelby Tarleton; and brother, Ronnie Bethune.
Funeral services for Mr. James Wesley Bethune will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, in the Warren Haisten Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Tyson Roache will officiate.
