According to a sworn affidavit submitted Thursday to Spalding County Magistrate Court Judge Bobby Harris, 31-year-old Corey Bernell Reeves, of 105 Thornberry Trail in Jackson, is being sought for the shooting death of Latwan Favors.

Reeves is described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, and having black hair, brown eyes and medium-dark skin.

“We are currently looking for Corey Reeves, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest for the murder of Latwan Favors,” said Maj. Terry Brock of the Griffin Police Department in a news release. “The investigation is still ongoing.”

Sgt. Karen Yancy, of the Griffin Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, said in the affidavit that Reeves caused Favors’ death by shooting him twice in the back with a .45-caliber pistol at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday in front of a residence at 324 N. Sixth St.

Personnel from the Griffin Police Department, Georgia State Patrol and Griffin Fire-Rescue responded to a call in reference to the shooting. Firefighters and paramedics were not able to save Favors, who died in the emergency room of Spalding Regional Medical Center due to his injuries.

Anyone with knowledge of Reeves’ current location should contact the Griffin Police Department at 770-229-6452 or Spalding County 911 at 770-229-9911. Authorities say Reeves is likely armed, and anyone in contact with him should be cautious.
