According to a GPD incident report, the victim stated he is a well-known gang member from Pennsylvania and moved to this area, which is not yet familiar to him, about a week ago to get out of the gang lifestyle.
The victim further stated that he was traveling from his residence on North 19th Street toward Arve’s on North Fourth Street and East Tinsley Avenue when he heard unusual sounds coming from the bottom of his vehicle.
He then reportedly stopped his vehicle to verify and fix the issue when an unknown black male — described as about 5 feet, 8 inches and between 16-and 18-years old — attacked him. The attacker did not say anything and eventually stabbed the victim in his upper left arm with a hunting knife.
The victim reportedly fought with the attacker and was able to get away from him, get in his car and leave the area. He went back to his residence, from where his girlfriend took him to Spalding Regional.
The incident is currently under investigation.
In another incident, police responded to the Easy Shop on North 13th Street Sunday in reference to a person brandishing a firearm.
According to a GPD incident report, a female witness stated to police officers that several black males arrived at the parking lot of the store in a red Dodge Magnum with large chrome rims. Those males then reportedly began arguing with another black male when one of them brandished a pistol.
The witness further stated that the group of males finally went back inside the car. When the male with whom the group was arguing crossed the parking lot, the group reportedly attempted to run him over with their car.
Police officers watched surveillance footage of the store, and while they weren’t able to see a gun in the video, they did notice the vehicle accelerate and subsequently approach the male, who had to jump across the hood and was then knocked to the ground.
Police were not able to make contact with the group of males or the victim.
