Beginning in December of 1992, I moved to Griffin and served there for three years as pastor at Kincaid Memorial United Methodist Church. My husband and I enjoyed our stay in Griffin and were pleased that we were asked to return last weekend to celebrate Kincaid Memorial’s 100th anniversary.
Having not been in Griffin for many years, we were surprised and delighted as we drove down 19/41 to see the new restaurants, motels and shopping areas. We had thought that the closing of Dundee Mills/Springs would lead to the deterioration of the town. Griffin did not remain a victim of that closing, instead you have grown and improved greatly. We also noticed that The Griffin Daily News is now a bigger and better newspaper.
The same can be said for Kincaid Memorial Church. With loving and caring leaders, this church, surrounded by the mill village, is spruced up and looking good. More importantly, there is a spirit of the Lord within Kincaid that radiates to all comers. I pray and believe Kincaid church will go on serving the Lord in Experiment and Griffin for another hundred years.
