The opening is at 7 p.m., with guest speaker Penny Cliff, the director and archivist of the Thomaston/Upson Archives. Griffin City Commissioner Dick Morrow said in an email that Cliff “has been instrumental in guiding us in the creation of the Griffin Spalding Archives.”
The Griffin Spalding Archive is a collection of historical papers, and according to its Facebook page, “We have a location and support! Now we need your documents, photos, any papers of historical or community value.”
Morrow said the archives will accept or make copies of documents families and churches may have of the history of Griffin and Spalding County.
The Archives are being housed in Building D, Room 101 of the Taylor Street Campus, formerly Taylor Street Middle School.
