Griffin Police Department and Griffin Fire-Rescue personnel responded to a gas leak that caused authorities to close West Taylor Street in both directions late Wednesday afternoon. Earlier reports indicated that construction equipment had damaged a gas line near 18th Street in the area of Sonic. Authorities still had Taylor Street blocked off at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and were not able to provide more details about the incident. See Friday’s edition for more information about the gas leak.
