The Griffin Police Department (GPD) responded to McDonald’s on West Taylor Street Saturday in reference to a fight in progress.

When police officers arrived at the scene, they were advised by three witnesses that the fight was between the 20-year-old female victim and the 23-year-old male suspect. Both were separated upon officers’ arrival.

According to a GPD incident report, the victim had swelling marks on her forehead, while the suspect — later identified as Kwame Radford, of Griffin — had a small scratch on his elbow.

The three witnesses stated to police that the victim and Radford, who works at McDonald’s as a cook, had been verbally arguing with each other all afternoon. They further stated that the fight started over Radford asking the victim to drop some hamburger buns in the toaster.

A surveillance video reportedly showed Radford walking away from the food preparation line and becoming physically aggressive with the victim, though the actual altercation could not be seen on the video.

According to the incident report, Radford, who was on parole for burglary at the time of the incident, was charged with battery.

In another incident, which took place Friday, police responded to the Burger King location on West Taylor Street in reference to larceny that had already occurred.

According to an GPD incident report, the manager of the location advised officers that one of her cashiers counted her register at around 5:15 p.m. that day. Approximately five minutes later, the cashier reportedly stated that she had to leave work immediately due to a family emergency.

The manager stated that the cashier left her register unattended and then left the premises. When the manager recounted the cashier’s register at about 5:45 p.m., she noticed that the register was almost $180 short of funds.

After pulling the records for the work safe, the manager learned that the cashier was supposed to have deposited $450 - only the deposit was never made.

The manager then attempted to make contact with the cashier via phone and was able to reach her through a text message. The cashier stated to the manager that she did not steal any money advised the manager to check camera footage inside the business for further details.

The manager stated that the total amount stolen was $628.86.
