The Griffin Police Department (GPD) responded to a location on Shandon Lane Monday around 1:30 a.m. in reference to an aggravated assault with a knife.

When police officers arrived at the scene, both the victim — a 52-year-old black female — and the suspect — 49-year-old Marvin Harper, of Griffin — were standing outside the residence, with the victim holding her hand, which was bleeding from a cut.

According to a GPD incident report, officers separated the two and asked Harper what had happened. Harper stated that he and the victim had been drinking and got into a heated argument during which the victim scratched him on his ear and then tried to stab him with a bread knife.
