The Griffin Police Department (GPD) responded to a residence on Hammock Street Sunday in reference to a disturbance.

When officers arrived at the scene, they made contact with a male who advised that he was in his bedroom when 27-year-old Alfredo Resendiz kicked in the bedroom door in a violent manner and entered the bedroom as if he was going to fight the male.

According to a GPD incident report, the male further pointed to a hole in the bedroom as a result of Resendiz kicking it.

Police then spoke to Resendiz, who reportedly appeared to be intoxicated. Resendiz admitted to kicking in the bedroom door - at which point he was arrested for disorderly conduct and taken to police headquarters on Poplar Street.

After being fingerprinted and issued a citation, Resendiz was transported to Lamar County Jail, from where he was not to be released until 5 a.m. of the following day due to his intoxication.

In another incident, Griffin police arrested 42-year-old Gladstone Malcolm Saturday at an apartment on Grantland Road for simple battery under the Family Violence Act and two counts of cruelty to children.

According to a GPD incident report, officers made contact with two females, two juveniles and Malcolm at the scene. The females stated to police that Malcolm attacked one of the them and tried to push her down the stairs. He reportedly also grabbed the juveniles forcefully when they told him that they were leaving to call the police.

Malcolm, who reportedly was very aggressive and irate, stated he only put his hands on the female to move her along.

Malcolm was placed in handcuffs and transported to Spalding County Jail.
