LITHIA SPRINGS, Ga. — The Griffin Christian Lady Crusaders basketball team reached a big milestone with a team small in numbers Tuesday evening.

The Lady Crusaders defeated the Colonial Hills Lady Rams 44-36 in GISA Region 4-AA action on the road, nabbing their first region win in two years.

“We didn’t win a region game at all last year, so this is great,” said Lady Crusaders head coach Melanie Foster. “The girls played well. They moved the ball well and took good shots. I’m really proud of them.”

GCHS improves to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in region play. The girls aren’t in action until Saturday at Oak Mountain at 4:30 p.m.

Brittany Foster led Griffin Christian with 12 points and 12 rebounds, followed by Kellie Dingler with 9 points, Leyah Brown and Jamiee Tidwell with 7 each, Sarah Conort with 5 and Caroline Smith with 4.

Despite Smith’s low points total, she really played big against Colonial Hills — she added 10 rebounds, 7 steals and 7 blocks.
