The Spalding County Public Works Department has announced the reopening of a portion of Jackson Road from its four-way intersection at North McDonough Road east to Bailey Jester Road. All cross drain work has been completed.
Starting March 11, the AARP Tax Aide volunteers and the Spalding County Senior Center staff will not take reservations for seniors who want to file for the new stimulus refund on tax Tuesdays at the Spalding County Senior Center. If, however, a senior is filing for their state or federal taxes, the tax volunteers will take care of the stimulus refund for you at the same time. The AARP Tax Aide and the Senior Center are currently working on setting up other days to take care of all those that just need the stimulus refund. Listen to the radio and watch the newspaper. Those wanting to file just for the stimulus refund have up until October to apply.
Milner School reunion will be Sunday, March 30 at Milner Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Class meetings will follow a covered dish luncheon. If you attended Milner School at any time through 1970 you are invited.

A Memorial Scholarship for paraprofessionals will be awarded in May by the Griffin-Spalding Retired Educators Association. To qualify, paraprofessionals must be currently enrolled in a teacher education program or accepted into one. All principals have been given applications and guidelines.

The First Steps Program at Spalding Regional Medical Center is looking for dedicated volunteers. First Steps is a program that serves families of newborns by providing them with parenting education, telephone contact and referrals to community resources.
