Today will be the last day those interested in purchasing livestock will be able to view a cow, a male pig and a male horse the county intends to auction off.

“We’ve dealt with livestock all the time I’ve been here and I’ve been here 13 years,” said Brent Foster, supervisor of Spalding County Animal Control.

He said if livestock is found wandering in the county, Animal Control is responsible for dealing with it. If no owner can be found, the county auctions off the animals with sealed bids. The pig was found on Windsor Drive, while the cow was found on Baptist Camp Road. The horse was found on England Road.

The animals may be viewed at the Spalding County Animal Control headquarters, at 208 Justice Blvd., Griffin, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Forms for bidding can be found at the Animal Control headquarters or at the Spalding County Courthouse Annex, at 119 E. Solomon St.

Payment must be made before receiving the livestock, in either cash or certified funds payable to Spalding County.
