The City of Griffin will be considing utility rates at Tuesday’s meetings.

The city commissioners meet Tuesday morning for a workshop/retreat to discuss among other things the city’s utility rates as well as the upcoming budget, water agreements as well as current and future sales tax projects and community development. The board is scheduled to vote at Tuesday night’s meeting on adjusting utility rates and on the revised memorandum of understanding with the county and the Spalding County Water and Sewerage Facilities Authority.

Last month, the city voted down the memorandum by a 5-2 vote, with only the two commissioners involved in the negotiations, Dick Morrow and Ryan McLemore voting for it. Since that time, the Water Authority and County Commissioners have approved it and the county also agreed to the city’s annexation of the new airport site in a resolution requesting legislation to create an airport authority ot operate and fund the new airport.

They call it an adjustment now instead of an increase.
