It seems like the only thing that can beat the Griffin Bears football team is the Saturday morning coin toss.

For the second straight weekend, the Bears lost out on a chance to host a home playoff game when the coin toss came out in favor of the other No. 1 seed.

Last weekend, Apalachee won the toss and this past Saturday, Sandy Creek won the toss and will host the Bears this Friday night.

Sandy Creek is located in Tyrone, Ga. in Fayette County and the Patriots are the only ranked team besides Griffin left in the Class AAAA playoffs. Sandy Creek is ranked third while Griffin is No. 1 in AAAA.

“They’re a really good team, probably the best team we’ll play all year,” said Bears head coach Steve DeVoursney. “We have to play really well or we’ll get beat.”

DeVoursney said another road trip is not that big of a deal.

“You’ve got to win some at home and some on the road in the playoffs,” he said.
