The Spalding High girls basketball team used a 47-42 win against Manchester on Thursday to work its way into the title game of the Meriwether Tournament at 7 p.m. today against Greenville.

Both the girls and boys teams were scheduled to face the host team in late games Friday before wrapping up the tournament with games at 1 p.m., and 2:30 p.m., respectively, today against Trinity Christian-Sharpsburg.

Friday’s action ended a 10-day hiatus for Griffin Christian which last played on Dec. 18 at Arlington. The Crusaders (7-5) were looking to get back in the win column after losing 83-70 to Arlington. The Lady Crusaders (6-5), meanwhile, were also looking to get back in the win column after having a season-best three-game win streak snapped 76-27 by Arlington.

Earlier this holiday season, the Griffin High teams split in a tournament Dec. 21-22 at Lamar County. The Griffin Bears (8-4) upped their win streak to three in a row with a 63-41 win against Pike County in the opener before ending the tournament with a 63-58 loss to archrival Upson-Lee.
