"It's exciting to see the kids get the opportunity to continue their playing career as well as get a chance to get an education," said second-year Spalding head coach Nick Davis. "It's always going to hurt losing a senior class, especially this group, most of which started two or three years, but it is always exciting to see them get a chance to continue their careers, smile and move on to bigger and better things."
Griffin head coach Steve DeVoursney, was just as happy to see players headed to the next level.
"Any time a kid signs a scholarship and gets a chance to continue his education and play, that's good," said DeVoursney, who expects possible as many as two more players sign later.
Another Griffin player, Nhigel Phillips (DT), has already enrolled at Hones Community College in Mississippi.
