11 arrested for pot at Northside Hills

A complaint of loud music after midnight Wednesday resulted in the arrest of 11 people on marijuana and other charges at Northside Hills Apartments.

Spalding County Sheriff Wendell Beams said Deputy Kimberly Barnett of the Uniform Patrol Division responded to a complaint of loud music from apartment C-2 at Northside Hills Apartments, 615 Northside Drive, Griffin, about 12:30 a.m., Wednesday.

Beam said Barnett approached the hall of Building C, where she encountered an unidentified black male subject who fled inside apartment C-2. She pursued the unidentified black male to the front door of apartment C-2.

After a brief encounter inside the apartment, Beam said, Barnett and other deputies conducted field interviews with the subjects inside. During the interview of the subjects inside the apartment, a clear plastic sandwich bag containing marijuana was located as were two digital scales and an open box of clear sandwich bags.

Beam said the Special Operations Unit was called in and Special Agent Sam Jones arrived and collected the evidence. Jones conducted a field test of the suspected marijuana and with a reported positive result with a weight of approximately 37.6 gross grams.

All 11 subjects located in the apartment were taken into custody and charged accordingly. All 11 were charged with possession of marijuana more than 1 ounce, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school as the apartment is within 1,000 feet of Atkinson Elementary.

There were additional charges for eight of the suspects, but three of the 11 were arrested only on those three possession charges — Ashley Ashay Mitchell, 25, 914 Futral Road, Griffin; Kimberly Geiger, 23, 707 Anne St. Apt. B, Griffin; and Tamarious Roberts, 22, 227 Austin St., Griffin.

The resident of the apartment, Tatiana Cyril Robinson, 21, was also charged with possession of drug related objects (scales and packaging materials) and keeping a disorderly house. Omira Parks, 23, 1008 Beck St., Apt. G, Griffin, was also charged with possession of drug related objects (scales and packaging materials).

Leonard Sherrod McDay, 23, 3849 Old Lantern Drive, Lithonia, was charged with the three drug possession charges and with criminal trespass.

Five people under the age of 21 were charged with drinking under age as well as the three drug possession charges. They are Neshawn Reid, 20, 905 D.F. Fuller Drive, Griffin; Rudeja Dontrece Bega, 18, 104 Pier Point, Griffin; Samone Penera Fambro, 20, 615 Northside Drive, Apt. N-4, Griffin; Nika Evans, 17, 1524 North Hill St., Griffin; and a 16-year-old female juvenile.
