$23M set aside for rail

There’s $23 million in federal transportation money earmarked for Spalding County.

The money’s been sitting there for 10 to 12 years, said Dick Morrow, a Griffin city commissioner and chairman of the Griffin Spalding Area Transportation Committee. Morrow said a meeting was called by Congressman Lynn Westmoreland to see if counties around Atlanta were willing to use their earmarked money to build a multimodal transportation hub in Atlanta.

It is the same one we just voted down. Sorry, I don't want to go to Atlanta. I would like to see local transportation - my daughter does not have a car and would like to go to town to look for a job. Atlanta? No thanks.

This "earmarked" money needs to be spent on rebuilding the bridge near UGA.
