12-0891L GRAND JURY PRESENTMENTS SPALDING COUNTY, GEORGIA JUNE TERM, 2012 We, the Grand Jury, would like to express our appreciation to the Honorable Christopher C. Edwards, the Honorable Tommy R. Hankinson, the Honorable W. Fletcher Sams, and the Honorable Robert M. Crawford for their cooperation and never ceasing effort to make Spalding County a safer place to live. We would like to commend Honorable Scott Ballard, District Attorney for the Griffin Judicial Circuit, Chief Assistant District Attorney Randall Coggin, Assistant District Attorney Alaina S. Granade, Assistant District Attorney Robert W. Smith Jr., and Jordan Van Matre, for the professional manner in which they presented indictments to the Grand Jury and their vigorous prosecution in criminal cases. We, the Grand Jury, would like to thank the Honorable Tommy R. Hankinson, for his informative charge to the Grand Jury. We, the Grand Jury, would like to recognize and commend the extraordinary effort made by the Superior Court Judges and the District Attorney of the Griffin Judicial Circuit in their prosecution and management of criminal cases. We commend Barbara Peurifoy, and Hugh McLaurin and other staff members of the Court and District Attorney's Office for their excellent efforts in providing us with a pleasant environment in which to work. We commend Honorable Marcia Norris, Clerk of Spalding Superior Court, and her excellent staff for their services to the people of Spalding County and to the Courts. To the investigators and officers of the Griffin Police Department, the Griffin Police Department Special Investigations Unit, the Spalding County Sheriff's Department, the Spalding County Special Operations Unit, and the Georgia State Patrol, we extend our sincere thanks and commendations for the superior manner in which they presented their cases. In addition, we are grateful for their dedication to duty which was evident throughout our session. We have examined all cases brought before us and returned true bills on all which we believed warranted such action. Pursuant to O.C.G.A. 36-1-7, we received financial reports from: (1) Honorable Marcia Norris, Clerk of the Superior Court of Spalding County; (2) Honorable DeWitt Simonton, Jr., Judge of the Probate Court of Spalding County; (3) Ms. Jinna Garrison, Finance Director of Spalding County; (4) Honorable Wendall Beam, Sheriff of Spalding County We the Grand Jury, by resolution, authorize the foreperson and clerk of the Grand Jury to sign these presentments on behalf of the entire Grand Jury. We request that the Presentments be published in the GRIFFIN DAILY NEWS and be made available to all local news media. We further request copies of the presentments be delivered to State Representatives John Yates and David Knight, State Senators Ronnie Chance and John Douglas, the Spalding County Board of Commissioners, the City of Griffin Commissioners, and the Griffin-Spalding Board of Education.
